Trailer Fires Displace Two Families

Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org TRAILER FIRES DISPLACE TWO FAMILIES Mobile firefighters are clearing the scene of two trailer fires located at 457 North Cody Road that occurred this morning, October 23. The call was received at approximately 2:38 a.m. and when firefighters arrived on the scene they reported one trailer fully involved with fire and spreading to a second trailer next door. A family of seven, two adults and five children, were living in the trailer that the fire originated in, while one adult was living in the trailer that the fire spread to. All escaped unharmed. The Mobile Fire-Rescue Chaplain and American Red Cross are assisting the families with accommodations. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time. Investigators are looking at two possible accidental causes and cannot rule out either at this time. No damage estimate is available at this time. No injuries were reported. Engines 1, 22, 26; truck 27; rescue 26 and District Chief Steve Zirlott responded to the fire. The Bureau of Fire Prevention is conducting the investigation. ###
