Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org UPDATE ON FIRE AND ADDITIONAL INVESTIGATION Mobile Fire Investigators, based on collected evidence, have determined that the cause of the fire that occurred at 957 Elmira Street on the night of March 13 was intentional and remains an ongoing investigation. Another intentional fire, in a vacant structure, occurred on Saturday morning, March 16 at 857 Elmira Street. The call was received at approximately 7:54 a.m. A woman, from a local church, who was visiting in the neighborhood saw smoke and reported it. Firefighters arrived and extinguished the fire before it had an opportunity to grow in size keeping damage to a minimal and to the exterior. Damage is estimated at approximately two-thousand dollars.
