Mobile Fire-Rescue Department units were dispatched for a report of a residential fire in the 5900 block of South Westhaven Drive in Mobile, Alabama, at about 8:25 p.m. Friday evening, January 12, 2024.
Units arrived on scene noting fire visible from the roof of a single-story masonry structure. Firefighters made an offensive attack to extinguish the fire while sending search crews to make sure all occupants were out of the structure. No people were found inside, but two pets were safely rescued.
As of 9:09 p.m., crews were still on scene extinguishing any remaining hotspots in the home. No firefighters were injured. The fire is under investigation at this time.
