MPRD hosting free gospel music festival this Friday at Dotch Community Center

Mobile, Ala. — The Mobile Parks and Recreation Department, in partnership with Aetna and Oak Street Health, is bringing a free gospel music festival to the Trinity Gardens community this Friday.

The Tricksey Gospel Fest will return this Friday, Sept. 26, with amazing choral performances, praise dancing, and more. The festivities will begin at noon at the Dotch Community Center, located at 3100 Bank Ave. First organized in 2023 for members of the nearby Tricksey Senior Center, the Tricksey Gospel Fest has grown into a beloved celebration of faith, music, and community for all Mobilians.

“Gospel Fest has become one of our most anticipated events for the Tricksey Senior Center,” MPRD Recreation Superintendent Shad Collins Jr. said. “Now in its third year, this event will showcase the incredible gifts of our seniors, staff, and guest performers.”

Thanks to support from partners like Aetna and Oak Street Health, this year’s festival will be bigger than ever with performances by the University of Mobile’s Voices of Mobile ensemble and the acclaimed LeFlore Rattler Chorus, which performed at Carnegie Hall in 2024.

These gifted groups will be joined by other talented vocalists, praise dancers, and community members who will share their expressions of faith through music, spoken word, and movement. The event is free and open to the public; attendees are encouraged to arrive early for the best seating. Thanks to our sponsors, MPRD will also be providing lunch for senior citizens in attendance while supplies last.
