Nick Amberger, P.E. is the City Engineer for the City of Mobile. Nick is responsible for the City’s engineering staff that manages multiple engineering activities for the City. These activities include street paving, storm water infrastructure, right-of-way permitting, and flood plain management. Nick serves as a Planning Commission Member, as appointed by the Mayor, and is involved in the long range planning for the city’s aging infrastructure. He played a major role in helping initiate the city’s first multi-year Capital Improvement Plan implemented in 2016.

Prior to joining the City of Mobile’s Engineering department in 2009, Nick spent over 15 years at the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) in various roles including Maintenance Engineer, County Transportation Engineer, Bridge Operation Engineer, and Project Engineer. Early in his career he was a Staff Engineer at Brown & Mitchell Engineering and Volkert & Associates.

Nick obtained his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Alabama in 1992 and holds his Professional Engineer License in the State of Alabama.

Nick is a Mobile native and enjoys boating, hunting, and fishing. He is married to Melanie Amberger and they have 2 sons, Cole and Connor.
