To make sorting, collecting and transporting recyclable materials easier for citizens, the City of Mobile is offering free take-home bins to residents who use its single-stream recycling services. These 18-gallon bins are available now on a first-come, first-served basis to City of Mobile residents at any of the city's three recycling drop-off centers.
This effort is supported through a grant from The Recycling Partnership, with additional funding from the American Beverage Association’s “Every Bottle Back” initiative and the Alabama Beverage Association.
To make recycling easy, the City of Mobile uses a single-stream method meaning citizens are not required to sort their recyclables.

The City of Mobile staff are working to ensure you have a great recycling experience. Please kindly remember them as they provide this important service.
The City of Mobile is now accepting old, unwanted, broken and outdated household electronics at its recycling centers. During regular operating hours, residents can drop off used residential electronics at any of the city’s three single-stream recycling centers.
Accepted items can be dropped off in the blue bins marked for electronic recycling. Through a partnership with the city, Ransom Solutions (formerly Ransom Ministries) will collect and process electronic waste collected at the centers.
Properly disposing of unwanted electronics helps reduce electronic waste in our landfills.
Some of the items now accepted at the recycling centers include telephones, computers (including components and accessories), game consoles, CD and DVD players, cell phones, surge protectors and other small electronics.
TVs and other large electronics will not be accepted, but they can be taken directly to Ransom Recycling’s facility at 320 South Craft Highway in Chickasaw. There is a $30 disposal fee for CRT TVs only.
This free drop-off service is only available for residential electronics, though local businesses can schedule a commercial pickup for larger quantities directly through Ransom Recycling by emailing recycling@ransomsolutions.org or visiting ransomrecycling.com.
