MOBILE, Ala. – At approximately 08:37 hours, Mobile Fire-Rescue companies responded to the 1300 block of Lucerne Drive for reports of smoke and flames visible from a residential structure. Upon arrival on scene, crews confirmed heavy amounts of smoke flowing from a 2-story, brick veneer home.
Flames were visible inside of the garage. All occupants had safely evacuated the structure prior to MFRD arrival on scene. Fire personnel quickly located and extinguished flames, which extended into the attic.
During fireground operations, a veteran firefighter suffered a blunt trauma injury to the upper body. The firefighter was transported to Springhill Medical Center for evaluation and treatment.
No civilians were injured during the incident. The fire stemmed from the kitchen stove and has been ruled accidental.
