Mobile Fire-Rescue Department was dispatched at about 4:01 a.m. for a report of a residential fire called in by a resident in the 600 block of Plum Street in Mobile, Alabama, Friday morning, May 23, 2025.
Units quickly arrived at the scene of a single-story, wood-frame residence with nothing initially visible from the exterior, but within a minute found there was a working fire inside the back of the home that was divided into three apartments. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire.
Crews performed primary and secondary searches to make sure no one was inside, with no one found. An adult and 7 young children were treated by MFRD paramedics on the scene, as a precautionary measure. The structure suffered fire damage in the kitchen and smoke damage throughout.
The fire originated in the kitchen, and the cause of the fire was determined to be accidental. There were no reports of any injuries.
