Mobile, Ala. — Mobile Fire-Rescue Department has lifted the shelter-in-place order activated this morning near the hazardous materials incident at 5237 Halls Mill Road at 10:12 a.m.
The team from MFRD’s Hazmat 15 used sodium bicarbonate to neutralize the chlorine chemicals that were releasing chlorine into the air. They have been closely monitoring levels in the air around the incident and have noted levels have receded to a safe level.
Cleanup at the incident will be ongoing for some time. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
