Certification from National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians
PARAMEDIC CADET
At least 17 years of age and must not have reached age 22.
Graduated from a standard senior high school or G.E.D.
Must meet admission requirements to become enrolled in Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic Training.
Valid drivers license from state of residence.
THE ENTRANCE EXAM
The Civil Service Entrance Examination consist of thee sections:
PHASE I - The CPAT Test - Candidate Physical Agility Test
In the Physical Agility Test, you will be asked to perform several tasks similar to those performed by firefighters on the job. These tasks are designed to test your:
Strength
Stamina
Endurance
Agility
Ability to work at heights
What is CPAT? PHASE II - The Written Examination
Following successful completion of the CPAT, candidates may submit application for the position of firefighter via the Mobile County Personnel Board. Candidates will, then, be required to complete a written test for the next phase of the selection process. The written test assesses the cognitive abilities required of a new Firefighter. The candidates that score a passing grade on this test are invited to the next phase, or the physical agility portion of the entrance examination.
