As the first Chief Resilience Officer in the State of Alabama, Casi serves the City of Mobile through setting comprehensive resilience priorities that will strengthen the City’s ability to address the systemic stresses and challenges it faces while enhancing its ability to prepare for and rebound from acute shocks.  This means tackling challenges and creating solutions in a place-based, integrated, inclusive, risk-aware, and forward-looking manner.

Prior to joining Mayor Stimpson’s team in May of 2021, Casi served as Executive Director of Mobile Baykeeper. Under her leadership and direction, Mobile Baykeeper grew from a staff of 1 to a 20-member team with a $1 Million budget and a host of environmental wins for Coastal Alabama.

Previous experience includes a move to Washington, DC where Casi organized and lobbied on environmental legislation at the local, state, and federal levels.

Casi is a Leadership Circle Member of the global water advocacy organization, Waterkeeper Alliance, graduate of the Leadership Mobile class of 2012, was Dean of Leadership Mobile in 2017, and served in various roles with the local and statewide environmental organizations. Casi is the recipient of multiple awards over her career including River Hero, Girl Scout’s Leading Lady, Lifetime Television’s Remarkable Woman, the Liberty Bell award, Coastal Living Magazine’s Coastal Hero, Mobile Bay Magazine’s Fab 40 in 40 years. Casi is currently serving as an Elder at Government Street Presbyterian Church and chairs the Stewardship Committee. 

Having grown up in Mobile, Casi graduated from Julius T. Wright and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Ecology and Philosophy at Emory University. Casi currently resides in the Mobile Bay area with her husband and teenaged son.
