The Wharf at Orange Beach will host the The Lighting of The Island on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m. at the Christmas Tree on Main Street.

In honor of National Family Volunteer Day, Volunteer Mobile will host several family-friendly projects throughout Mobile County on Saturday, Nov. 21 including holiday food preparations, a neighborhood clean-up and gardening activities. Regions Bank will host a SAVE Brigade Blood Drive on Saturday, Nov. 21 at its Bel Air branch, 3001 Airport Blvd. from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Tuesday, Nov. 24 at its Malbis branch, 30083 Woodrow Lane (across from the Eastern Shore Center) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. In addition, Regions brand ambassadors will travel in a Regions-branded Ford Fusion Hybrid in Mobile and Baldwin County from Thursday, Nov. 19 through Tuesday, Nov. 24 to pass out Personal Savings Review brochures and SAVE cans to local residents to learn more about the bank.

Mobile Civic Center Main Arena and Expo Hall will host the world celebration of musical harmony during the 26th annual Mobile International Festival on Saturday, Nov. 21 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Opening Ceremony starts with the Parade of Flags from 70 nations and followed by the Children's Chorus. Admission is $8 for adults; $7 for Seniors 65 and up; $5 for children 7-15; and free for kids 6 and under. For more information call 251-470-7730.

Bellingrath Gardens and Home will host a Digital Photography Workshop Saturday, Nov. 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be a lecture, discussion and lots of time to take photos throughout the Gardens for experienced photographers with digital SLR cameras. Class size is limited and reservations are required. The cost is $45 for non members and $35 for Bellingrath members (includes lunch). For more information call 251-973-2217.

Penelope House will benefit from A Day in the Park on Saturday, Nov. 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Performing Arts Pavilion at Municipal Park. The event will feature entertainment, kids' activities and an antique car display. A $5 donation includes lunch plate and entry into a grand prize drawing. Kids 4 and under are free.

The United Way of Southwest Alabama are hosting the Live United Reading Book Drive through Monday, Nov. 31. Books collected will be for first graders and may be dropped off at the United Way's office, 218 St. Francis St. Monday through Friday from 8:20 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information call 251-431-0113.

Penelope House will benefit from an Iron Bowl Fashion Show on Sunday, Nov. 22 from 4 to 6 p.m. The event will feature distinguished Alumni from both Auburn University and the University of Alabama modeling fashions provided by Metzger's.
