Laura Byrne joined Mayor Stimpson's team as the Deputy Director of Communications in 2014. She serves as the City spokesperson on broadcast, print and radio and spearheads the City's annual communication plan including local, national and international media relations, writing news releases, hosting news conferences, updating the City's website, speechwriting and maintaining a robust social media presence. She launched the first mayoral Snapchat in the country to connect with youth and has exponentially increased following and engagement across multiple social media platforms.

Prior to joining the Mayor's team, Laura was the communications director for Mobile Baykeeper, a conservation nonprofit with more than 4,000 members. During her tenure, she secured features in local, state and national news and published content for the website, social media and all other marketing materials.

Laura graduated from Tulane University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Communications. After graduation, Laura moved to Washington, D.C. to pursue a career in journalism. She authored hundreds of articles under byline for the Daily Caller and Red Alert Politics and her work was featured on Yahoo! News and Fox Nation. She ultimately decided to move back to her hometown Mobile, Alabama to serve her community.
