Councilman William Carroll is a 38 year-old native Mobilian who is a lifelong resident of District 2, and was elected to the Mobile City Council on September 13, 2005. He attended St. Mary's Elementary School and is a graduate of McGill-Toolen High School. He furthered his education at Florida A & M University where he played college football and earned a bachelor's degree in Architectural Construction Engineering. For two summers while a college student, Councilman Carroll was selected by Democratic Majority Leader, U.S. House of Representative Richard Gephardt to work in the Office of Capital Architecture.
Councilman Carroll is President of The CM Group LLC, a full-service contracting firm and is very involved in a variety of community activities. He is a participant in the Oakleigh Venture Revolving Fund and is a United Way Volunteer. William is a past president of the Mobile County Chapter of Habitat for Humanity, the Family Counseling Center and a former member of the Board of Directors for the R.V. Taylor Boys and Girls Club. He is also a volunteer Coach for the Catholic Youth Organization sports programs, a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Comrades, Inc. and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.
In his bid for the Mobile City Council District 2 seat Councilman Carroll explained, "I believe in leadership that's on the level and I will be responsive to the problems, issues and concerns of all the citizens of District 2".
Councilman Carroll is married to the lovely Johanne Tenard Carroll. They are the parents of three children, William, age 13, Julia , age 9, and Morgan, age 1.
