BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH


Personal


A native of Mobile and the Maysville Community, Jermaine A. Burrell is devoted to the citizens and the communities of District 3. Burrell attended Lillie B. Williamson High School and graduated in 1994. He graduated cum laude from Alabama Agricultural & Mechanical University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in 1999.

He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He served as Director of Education and also the Assistant Southern Regional Vice President on the Regional and National Board of Directors. Burrell also served on the MLK Foundation Steering Committee to derive a strategy to erect a National Memorial on the Mall at Washington, DC honoring the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. He served as the Associate Dean to the College of Professional and Personal Development of Alpha University. He also actively participated in professional organizations including the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), Alpha Kappa MU National Honor Society, National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and Americorps; Minority Recruiting.

After graduating from college, he moved to Atlanta, GA and started his career with Accenture. He participated in the Firm’s building best people initiatives by serving on the Recruiting Team for his Alma Mater, Alabama A&M University and also a facilitator for professional development workshops for INROADS/Atlanta, Inc. Burrell returned to his hometown of Mobile in 2000 to work as a Software Development Consultant for Avanade, Inc. based out of New York, NY, a joint venture of Accenture, LLC and The Microsoft Corporation. Burrell served in the Executive Ranks of the Firm in the Custom and Emerging Markets, Communications and High Tech Growth Platform. He lead IT Projects at many of the Firm’s Diamond Clients. He also served as Lead Facilitator for the Firm’s Core Analyst School, a training program designed to acclimate new hires to the Accenture Methodology. He also served on the Corporate Citizenship Planning Team and participated in AAIM African Americans in Motion an initiative designed to support the career development of African American’s at the Firm and also The NorthStart Network (NSN) a nationwide network of African-American executives, dedicated to paving the way for the next generation of leaders. Burrell continued his career with APL Software Engineering Firm in Mobile, AL in 2004. While at APL he worked as a Senior Software developer for the Mobile County Engineering Department.

Burrell completed his tenure with Accenture in 2008 and currently manages his real estate business full time. Burrell is a member Mt. Hebron Baptist Church Ministries.
