The Traffic Engineering Department is responsible for the supervision of traffic signals, signs and markings, parking meters, crowd control barricades and computerized signal systems, and for the provision of professional recommendations concerning the planning, design and operation of parking facilities, streets and highways, and for the coordination of activities with other City departments, public agencies and private firms. All program activities are directed toward providing for the safe and efficient movement of people and goods on the streets and highways.
