MOBILE, AL – On August 22, a $1.2 million, three-year contract with Waste Pro of Alabama, Inc. to provide residential garbage and trash services in the newly annexed areas of the City was presented by the Administration.
 
The Council authorized the use of more than $493,000 in Capital Improvement Plan funds to begin traffic signal upgrades at Hillcrest and Cottage Hill Roads, and playground demolition at Fry and Mill Street Parks. A resolution was introduced to use CIP funds for the design and construction of restroom renovations, site lighting, playground demolition, sidewalks, and dog park improvements at Frederick D. Richardson, Jr. Tricentennial Park.
 
An agreement with the Alabama Department of Transportation for $375,000 was authorized for traffic signal maintenance along U.S. Hwy 45 including resurfacing from Prichard Ave. to South Wilson Ave.
 
A contract with Volkert & Associates for professional program management services for the Mobile Civic Center redevelopment was held over one week for consideration. The funding source for this phase of the project was previously allocated in May of this year.
