MOBILE, AL – On July 11, Mobile City Council approved a lease agreement between the City of Mobile and the Board of School Commissioners of Mobile County for property to construct a football stadium at Williamson High School.
 
A $3.2 million contract was approved for fountain and site amenity improvements at Bienville Square. City-wide improvement contracts to Southern Lighting & Traffic Systems totaling more than $224,000 were approved for new LED street light luminaries and traffic signal controller cabinets.
 
An amended version of the previously submitted intergovernmental agreement between the City of Mobile and the Board of School Commissioners of Mobile Country regarding the sale of Ladd-Peebles Memorial Stadium was presented. The amended version includes a requirement for stadium seating to have the capacity to always accommodate a minimum of 30,000 people, except during renovations. It also allocates $9.2 million dollars in funds to the School Board for maintenance and renovations over the next three years.
 
The City introduced a contract allocating $116,514 in Capital Improvement Plan funds for the Airport Boulevard Signal Improvement Project. This contract includes project management, planning, programming and engineering services.
