MOBILE, AL – On July 24, the Administration presented the City Council with an ordinance to extend and renew the Capital Improvement Program through 2028, deploying additional funding to capital projects and infrastructure improvements throughout all seven council districts. The proposed changes would increase the amount of CIP funds allocated to each district from $3 million to $4 million annually.

The Council authorized over $300,000 in Capital Improvement Plan contracts for maintenance and improvement projects at the Michael C. Dow Amphitheater, Hope Community Center and Lyons Park.

In an effort to continue holding Council meetings with a high level of efficiency, the Council approved amendments to the Council Rules of Procedure regarding “Communications with Council at Council Meetings” and “Decorum”. Key amendments include clarifying grounds for removal from Council meetings due to disruptive behavior.

The Special Municipal Election to fill the vacant District 6 Council seat will be held on July 25. Information cards have been mailed to all District 6 residents with information regarding their designated polling station and other Election Day details.
