MOBILE, AL – The Mobile City Council has authorized an amendment to increase a contract with Chris Francis Tree Care, LLC by $750,000. The increase is to fortify city-wide tree maintenance and removal services, underscoring this critical need in the community.

The Council approved more than $39,000 in appropriations to a number of local agencies, recognizing the essential role these organizations play in supporting the Mobile community. These funds mark the beginning of the use of Fiscal Year 2024 funds and represent a commitment to providing for the needs of everyone in the city.

Coming up next week, the Council is set to vote on reapportioning all seven council districts following the city’s recent successful annexation, and on an $8.8 million contract for the construction of new statues to be placed in Heroes Plaza at the entrance of Cooper Riverside Park and the Arthur R. Outlaw Convention Center.

A proposal to help fund the new USA Whiddon College of Medicine education and research building will also be on the Council’s agenda.  If approved, the city would contribute $1 million per year for 10 years.
