Mobile City Council Rules and Entitlement Committees to meet

Mobile, AL – The Mobile City Council will hold a pair of committee meetings on Tuesday, May 31 to review key city issues.
 
The Rules Committee will meet at 1:00 p.m. to examine the process of hiring a consultant to perform and provide a racial polarization study as it relates to the redistricting of the City Council districts. Councilman Ben Reynolds chairs this committee. He is joined by Council Vice-President Gina Gregory and Councilman Cory Penn. 
 
Immediately following, the Entitlement Committee will meet to discuss a resolution that would take $8 million in American Rescue Plan funds and another $24 million (from other sources) to redevelop the old Gayfers’ building (165 Dauphin Street) into affordable housing. In addition to Councilman Cory Penn, who chairs the committee, Council Vice-President Gina Gregory and Councilman William Carroll serve as members. 
 
These meetings are for Council discussion only and will be held in the Council’s conference room on the 9th floor. Public comment will not be taken. If you have questions for either the Entitlement or Rules Committee, please submit them at citycouncil@cityofmobile.org
