Upcoming Committee Meetings on Key City issues

Mobile, AL – The City Council will hold several committee meetings in the next few weeks on key city issues.  

 

Tuesday, March 23rd

The Public Safety Committee will meet at 1:00 p.m. At this meeting, they will receive an update from the Public Safety Department on crime (both citywide and by Council Districts) specifically comparing 2020 crime stats with 2019. They also plan to receive an update from the Fire Chief and his staff on request for service calls in 2020 vs. 2019 and the response times. The committee has also invited members of the Police Citizens Community Relations Council to attend. Councilman Fred Richardson, who chairs the committee, is joined on it by Councilwoman Gina Gregory and Councilman John Williams.

 

Tuesday, March 30th

The Council Capital Improvement Program Committee (CCIP) will meet following the regular Council meeting.  The goal of the meeting is to receive updates from Administration staff on past CCIP projects and the process for slating upcoming projects. In addition to Councilman Small, who is chair of the committee, Councilmen Fred Richardson and John Williams serve as members. 

 

Tuesday, April 6th

The Finance Committee will meet at 1:00 p.m. to discuss the statutory requirement that the City use every reasonable effort to award 15% of city contracts to contractors who are socially or economically disadvantaged. At this meeting it is expected that Administration officials will advise the Council on progress made over the past eight years in awarding city contracts to contractors and sub-contractors which meet the statutory definition. Councilman Joel Daves is chair of the committee and is joined on it by Councilmen Fred Richardson and John Williams.
