A Message from Mayor Stimpson - September 2

Sep 2nd, 2020

Posted in: MayorCOVID-19

Good evening,

It is 8 p.m. on Wednesday September 2, 2020 and I am writing to give you an update from the City of Mobile.

Today, the Mobile County Health Department reports 12,381 COVID-19 cases an increase of 37 cases. To review the detailed report, click here.

We are continuing to streamline and improve the permitting process at City Hall. The City of Mobile's Build Mobile department has released a detailed, comprehensive, and user-friendly Single Family Residential Affidavit (SFRA) Land Development Package to assist customers from application through acceptance of all major permits that are required to build a single family residential home meeting the SFRA Land Disturbance Permit conditions.

This package features fillable-form documents with digital signatures to allow for a faster, fully digital submission on the City's online permitting portal, CSS. It also includes information on submittal and fee schedules, required permit applications, and two checklists: one detailing the document and plan requirements for submittals and another detailing the documents, approvals, and site conditions for final acceptance.

This is just another step that Mobile is taking to become a more business-friendly city.

In closing tonight, I will be giving the state-of-the-city address tomorrow. The allocated time to do so is 15 minutes. That is woefully insufficient to shine light on all the great things happening in Mobile. With 2,100 + employees working diligently to serve you, there are some amazing people who should be highlighted for the progress that is being made. Likewise, there are some amazing citizens and businesses who have done extraordinary things and gone the extra mile to make Mobile a better place to live, work, and play. A sneak preview into what I will say is that even in one of the most tumultuous years in the history of our city, the state-of-the-city is very strong and our future is bright. Please accept this as my thanks for all that you do. Your hard work, collaboration, planning, perseverance and love are paying off.

Sleep tight!

Good night,

Sandy Stimpson
