Mobile, Ala. — The City of Mobile and Via are inviting riders and residents to help shape the future of public transit by voting on the name and branding of the city’s new transit system.
As the city and Via work to launch a modern, more reliable transit network, residents and riders are being asked to help choose the system’s name, branding and color scheme. The public can participate by completing a short online survey available at https://bit.ly/4bfN7LX. Flyers with information about the survey will also be available at City of Mobile facilities and on Wave Transit buses.
The branding effort comes ahead of the debut of a fully redesigned transit system scheduled to launch in July 2026. Led by Via, the new system will combine improved technology with a coordinated network of trolleys, fixed route buses and microtransit and paratransit services designed to provide more dependable and flexible transportation options for riders across Mobile.
Participants will be asked to choose between two branding concepts: Second Line Transit and MoGo.
Second Line Transit reflects Mobile’s rich Carnival heritage and the long-standing second line traditions that are part of the city’s cultural identity. MoGo builds on the branding of the city’s successful microtransit service that launched in 2024 and has already become familiar to many riders.
“Our goal is to create a transit system that works for all Mobilians — from those who depend on it every day to those who want more options for getting around the city,” Mayor Spiro Cheriogotis said. “That starts with a brand people can connect with. The team at Via has given us two great concepts, and I’m excited to see how the community comes together helps shape Mobile’s Transit Future.”
The branding survey will remain open through March 27, giving residents several weeks to review the proposed branding concepts and share their input before the new transit system launches this summer.
