City Council Moves New Fire Station Forward

Councilman Fred Richardson Fights for Facility that will Serve District One

Mobile, Ala – The Mobile City Council today moved forward two measures necessary to build a brand new fire station in District One.

“I’m glad we were able to move forward this new facility being built because it is absolutely integral for District One,” said Councilman Fred Richardson, who urged his colleagues to support the measures.

The new facility will replace the station that sat on the corner of Moffett Road and Western Drive. The new station, which will serve Creighton, Forest Hills, Trinity Gardens and Midtown, will likely house Engine 15, Truck 10 and HazMat 15.

The old station served the area since 1955 but was recently deemed beyond repair.

“It makes far more fiscal sense to start from scratch at this point rather than try to renovate and repair this old structure,” said Richardson.
