Trinity Garden Ditches Project in the Works

Mobile, AL – Tomorrow, the City Council will take up a resolution that will kick-start an important project closing dangerous ditches in the Trinity Gardens community. If approved, the resolution would authorize a contract with Geotechnical Engineering for conducting an engineering testing phase on four open parallel ditches in Trinity Gardens on the following streets, Carter Street, Esau Street, Collins Street and Warsaw Street.

After fighting for funding for the project for years, Councilman Richardson was able to allocate Capital Improvement Project funds to get the project going last October.

“While I’m disappointed it took so long, I'm elated the Administration has finally started the process of honoring my request on these first group of ditches,” said Councilman Richardson. “My plan is to use the Capital Improvement funds to close four a year until every one of them is closed.”

There are 42 open parallel ditches in the Trinity Gardens community – often in front of residences.

“My hope is by July the project can be bided off and construction can start but August. The four ditches were selected by the Engineering Department,” said Richardson.
