Key Upgrades Coming to McCants-Chavers & Langan Parks
New Shade Structures will Increase Enjoyment and Use of Playgrounds
Mobile, AL – Council President Gina Gregory announced today that shade structure installations are underway at both McCants-Chavers and Langan Parks.
“These structures will provide much needed relief for children and caregivers making use of the parks during the hot summer months,’ said Council Member Gregory, who represents District Seven which includes both parks. She pushed for the project and financed it through the Capital Improvement Project fund for District Seven.
The work at McCants-Chavers Park, which started yesterday, will close the playground for rest of the week while the pole structure is installed. The park will then be open until the week of June 6-10th when it will close briefly to allow for the final installation of the fabric shades.
At Langan Park, the installation of the shade structure there will begin Monday, May 23rd. The playground be closed that week (May 23-27) and will reopen the following week. All the work should be complete by the end of the first week of June.
