The Mobile City Council will be sponsoring a Public Works Job Fair at the Via Health, Fitness and Enrichment Center from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, July 12, 2021.

Representatives from the Mobile County Personnel Board will be on-hand to speak with attendees and to answer any questions they might have.

The goal of the job fair is to recruit new employees to the City of Mobile Public Works Department.

“I was shocked to hear that we had working and functional equipment, but the lack of employees denied our residents access to adequate city services,” said C.J. Small, Mobile City Councilman, District 3. “I’ve heard concerns from my constituents and felt it was my responsibility to step up and help sponsor a job fair to get some of these positions filled.”

The event will highlight jobs in several departments including: Equipment Operator I; Equipment Operator II (Multi-Deck Rotary Mower); Equipment Operator II (Side-Arm Mower); Equipment Operator II (Trash Truck & Trailer); Equipment Operator II (Vactor); Equipment Operatory III (Automated Solid Waste Truck); Equipment Operator III (Dozer); Equipment Operator III (Electronic Screed); Equipment Operator III (Knuckleboom Leader); Equipment Operator III (Large Wrecker); Equipment Operator III (Lo-Boy) and Equipment Operator III (Track Mounted Hydraulic Excavator) (Trackhoe.)

“I appreciate the Mobile City Council for working with our administration to host a job fair that will help fill some of the most critical positions in our City government,” said Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson. “Our Public Works employees provide numerous services that directly and significantly impact our citizens every day. We look forward to welcoming some new members to our team.”

Interested applicants are asked to bring a valid driver’s license.

The Via Health, Fitness and Enrichment Center is located at 1717 Dauphin Street.
