Municipal Judge Raises and Part-time Municipal Judges Selection Process

MOBILE, AL. - Tuesday, the Mobile City Council voted unanimously to raise the salaries of the City's municipal judges and to establish a process for their selection and appointment. Comparative data showed that the salaries of Mobile's municipal judges were well below that of municipal judges in other large cities in the state.
The Council also approved the addition of one part time municipal judge and prescribed a process for selection of judges which will insure an open, transparent and competitive process for the selection of municipal judges.
