A dedicated Mobilian and community servant, Councilman Cory Penn is deeply committed to enhancing the quality of life for local youth.

A proud graduate of John L. LeFlore High School in 2002, Penn served as the president of the school’s Student Government Association.

Furthering his education, Penn pursued studies at Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Transitioning into the field of education, he became an educator, specializing in teaching special needs students at Chastang Middle School in Trinity Gardens. During his tenure, Penn co-founded the Chastang Elite Service Club, a program aimed at helping young boys discover their purpose and equipping them with the skills for a successful life.

Presently, Penn serves as the Student Success Coach at Bishop State Community College. In addition to his role in education, he is an ordained minister at Right Way Christian Center Church, where he actively strives to assist individuals in realizing their full potential, blending his faith with action.

A graduate of the Leadership Mobile Class of 2021, Penn is a valuable member of the board of directors at Mobile Community Action Inc. He received recognition as part of the 40 under 40 Mobile Bay Class of 2023. Penn is also a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

Ever ready to assist his family, friends, and community, Councilman Penn and his wife, Ivonza, are parents to two children: daughter Kori Bell and son Caleb.
